Christina – Editorial and Portfolio Shoot in the city of York

Two weeks ago I was asked to shoot a portfolio update for a model in Manchester. We had a chat via email and after seeing her other images, I jumped at the chance and we very quickly arranged a suitable date and location. We agreed to meet in the middle and York was decided on as its really the perfect place to go for an outdoor editorial style shoot with it’s amazing locations and historic backdrops.

On the day, we took a stroll down towards the famous River Ouse that cuts through the center of York City. After a quick chat to get to know one another slightly better and to relax and soak in the location, we started shooting. After about 5 shots, we captured this, pure natural light, no lights or even reflectors, just the sun and shade:

We must have spent about 45 minutes there before heading off to view other locations nearby.  Just 5 min walk from here was a beautiful shaded walkway from the city to the rivers edge with a cobbled wall and street…how could we possibly pass up that opportunity.!

Again, 100% natural light. Quick 10-15 min here shooting different looks and angles then off to the next location…about another 200yds away..! This is why I love to shoot in York, you can get several totally different looks within a couple of hundred yards.

Christina and I shot just shy of 700 images over about 3 hrs in total and we got some absolutely amazing images. Christina kindly gave me permission to share a few of them here so I hope you like them as much as we do.

If you every want to shoot in or around the historic city of York, let me know, we’ll be able to arrange something I’m sure.
Thanks for taking the time to read this little blog post and please come back soon for more images from other shoots including some Prom Night images..!

Thanks
Mike
